The believers here at New Plymouth Central Baptist gather and serve together informed and shaped by one fundamental conviction. That Jesus who was and is God, became human lived amongst us, died to restore us to God and rose from death and today is exalted as our Saviour, Lord and King. Therefore, living incarnationally in the world, living sacrificially and selflessly after the example of Christ, and relying on the transformation and empowering of the Holy Spirit is our primary value. We are imitators of Christ.
Out of this conviction we live by these values
Hospitality: Everyone is warmly welcomed and invited to be family with us. We offer a place and a people to belong to.
Love for one another: Love for one another and for the world is the primary expression of worship that we can offer to God.
All of life mission: God sovereignly has placed us in work, families, communities, schools, alongside neighbours, in retirement communities and all of these are therefore the primary place of witness and mission.
Informed by the Word of God: We receive God’s written word as inspirational for life and for the knowledge of God. We build and shape our lives on this foundation.
Led by the Spirit of God: After the resurrection the Holy Spirit was sent as the seal of our salvation. He is the transforming power to bring out good fruit in our lives and He is the one who gifts us to fulfil the mission of God. We are led by the Holy Spirit of God.
Our cultural context is that we are legally established as a Baptist Church community. We are therefore a membership organisation agreeing together on our shared beliefs through a statement of faith and on our procedural relationships through a constitution.
